On the water
The GPS shows NO FIX
A fix takes 15–30 seconds outdoors under a clear sky. Check the mast isn't shadowing the antenna and that you aren't below deck. If it says NO GPS rather than NO FIX, location access is off. Tap Open Settings on the red banner and enable it for Fetch.
The app advanced the mark before I got there
A mark arms inside 30 m and only advances once you have actually passed it: it goes abeam or astern, or you are back outside 40 m. If the race committee moved a mark on the day, tap Set Mark in the footer and choose Set to my position once you are at the new location. That updates the mark for your session.
The wind data doesn't match what I'm sailing in
Fetch seeds wind direction and speed from the MET Norway forecast while you race (data from MET Norway, licensed CC BY 4.0). When the forecast is wrong, tap the TWD or TWS tile on the racing screen and enter the wind yourself. You can switch back to forecast wind from the wind sheet whenever forecast data is available.
The bearing doesn't match my chart
Fetch shows true bearing, not magnetic. A chartplotter set to magnetic will differ by the local variation. If the difference is larger than that, report it, because the mark position may be wrong in our data, and we would rather know.
Courses and marks
My club's courses aren't there
Courses are loaded club by club, from the official course book, with the race officer's sequence and rounding directions. Fetch launches on Port Phillip Bay with Royal Yacht Club of Victoria. Email us with your club and we'll start the conversation with your race office.
A mark position, sequence or rounding direction is wrong
Tell us immediately at support@fetchthemark.com with the course name and what should be there. Course data errors are the one bug class that can cost somebody a race, and we treat them accordingly.
For sailing instructions, race notices and course queries on the day, contact your club's race office. They set the course, not us.
Subscriptions and billing
What's free and what isn't
Browsing courses and racing on the course map are free. Yacht adds live navigation to the next mark, track recording, replay and season history.
Managing or cancelling
Subscriptions bought in the iPhone app are billed by Apple, and are managed in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device. We cannot cancel or refund an App Store subscription on your behalf; Apple handles both.
I paid but the app still shows the paywall
Open the paywall and tap Restore purchases, making sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account that bought it. If it still won't unlock, email us with the date of purchase and we'll trace it.
Your account and data
Race tracks
Fetch records your track during a race so you can replay it afterwards. Tracks are private by default. If you turn on sharing for that race, other Fetch account holders who entered a boat in the same race can replay it. Club membership alone doesn't give access, and you can turn sharing off again.
Location
Fetch asks for "While Using" location and never "Always". Recording continues while the screen is locked during a race, which is what the while-using permission covers, so you'll see your phone's recording indicator whenever it's active.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Delete Account in the app, or follow the instructions on our account deletion page.
Privacy
What we collect and why is set out in our privacy policy. For privacy enquiries specifically, email privacy@fetchthemark.com.
Still stuck
Email support@fetchthemark.com. Include your club, your boat, the race, and what you expected the app to show. Screenshots help more than descriptions.
